Mr. Blum gets (in)famous!

Steven BlumWho knew little Stevie Blum was going to be quoted in Bike rag – wrongly, but at least he got the call!  Pick up this months edition of Bike Magazine (March ‘08).  Palos Forest Preserve was named one of the top 50 trails in the United States – go Chicago!  They did a decent job describing the trail – unfortunately they misquoted our friend in that there are NO ‘one-way’ trails (the article quotes that there are).  They definitely got the part right that you do have to take the corners with that extra eagle eye look to avoid from killing hikers and their small pooches on the trail.

Johnny Sprockets, the store of which Steve Blum is a manager of (North Store location – Bryn Mawr), has been an incredible advocate to the MTB community in Chicago for many years.  The shop’s expertise in MTB knowledge, repair, and service is widely heralded across Chicagoland as simply the ‘best’.  Steven has been dirt riding, jumping, freeriding, trail loitering, and general great friend to the MTB crowd since he moved to Chicago from Austin.

Bike Magazine apparently called Steven on a hunch that they knew Sprockets was well known for their MTB ties – its nice to see that a national rag spotlighted our little slice of MTB heaven in Chicago.

Want to contribute to the MTB community?  Go to the “things that make us go Derka Derka!” and review the CAMBr organization and IMBA sites and learn how to advocate MTB and join in on the effort to keep our trails alive.
